Q: Why is it important for beef tallow to be grass fed and grass finished?

Grass-fed and finished tallow isn’t just a fancy label! It means the cows lived naturally, ate what nature intended (grass only, for their entire lives!), and that their fat is packed with skin-loving nutrients. It’s clean, non-toxic, rich in vitamins your skin actually recognizes, and way more ethical and sustainable than the conventional stuff. 

Q: Why is beef tallow good for the skin?

Tallow from grass-fed & finished cattle is rich in nutrients and nearly identical to our skin’s natural oils, making it incredibly nourishing, gentle, and effective in skincare. It’s packed with essential fatty acids and vitamins A, D, E, and K, which deeply moisturize, support elasticity, and promote a healthy skin barrier. Tallow absorbs easily, helps soothe dryness and inflammation, and won’t clog pores. Q: Do you source your tallow from the United States?

Our tallow is sourced from a local Western North Carolina farm that practices regenerative farming (making it a sustainable & low-waste). Their cattle spend their entire lives in their lush, green hills and open pasture. We only use tallow from this farm, so you can trust that you are never using tallow sourced from farms that implement unethical practices. 

Q: Which balm is right for me?

Each balm offers unique benefits and you can find more details on each product's description. Here are a few TLDR things to consider:

• Our og blend contains shea and mango butters. While these are low on the comedogenic scale, they may not be the best fit for sensitive & acne prone skin. These butters can actually help some acne, but it varies person-to-person.
• The Wildwood balm is tallow, organic hemp seed oil, and an EO blend targeting problematic skin, including skin with acne. This balm makes an unbelievably incredible beard balm and is perfect for nearly all skin types.
• The Fountain supports the skin's natural aging process. Thoughtfully crafted with tallow, organic marshmallow and calendula infused jojoba & cold-pressed castor oils, and local raw honey, this balm will rejuvenate and refresh your skin, soften texture and wrinkles, and support a healthy skin barrier. This balm is gentle and amazing for all skin types, not just mature skin!
• Little Sprout Baby Balm is an awesome option for our littlest customers. This balm can be used all over, and is intentionally blended to soothe diaper rash and cradle cap.
• Balm.Calm is a 20% magnesium balm to enrich your sleep and soothe sore muscles.

Q: How can I use tallow balm?

Tallow balms are incredibly versatile. Faces, under the eyes, taming eyebrows, arms/legs/whole body, slicking stray hairs down, massages, beards, removing makeup, the list goes on! A little goes a long way, and one balm can replace several of your skincare products in one jar with a fraction of the ingredients and none of the harmful chemicals or additives.
